Description

The French Vitus 979 is the model that made bonded aluminum frames popular.  Lightweight anodized aluminum tubes are bonded to aluminum lugs, creating a visually striking and very light bike.  These can be built in the 17-18 pound range fairly easily.  The first 979 was made in 1979, and they ran until the early 1990's. 

Frame size

The frame is a Large to XL.  56cm top tube (c-c), with 58.5cm top tube.  The head tube is stamped "58", and this is likely the official size from Vitus.  It will fit someone roughly 5ft 10 to 6ft 2.

Condition:

The frame is straight and in great condition, The anodizing looks great with only a few minor marks, with the exception of some good sized marks on the back side of the seattube near/under the front derailleur clamp.  The decals look amazing with almost no wear.  The silver parts do have some finish surface wear, that could likely be buffed out.  NO dents, cracks, bends, etc.
