Description

Before Tullio Campagnolo invented quick releases in 1927, the best method of wheel attachment was the axle wing nut.  They provide a tool-free installation and removal, vs traditional axle nuts which require a wrench.  Today, they are loved by fixie riders and for vintage bicycles for a touch of class or originality.  

These wingnuts are marked "Verma Bronze".  I couldn't find anything about this company on the web, but they appear very well made.  They use bronze threads for durability, and have a nice textured handle.  Included is two wingnuts for rear axles with standard 3/8" threads, and two for front axles with standard 5/16" threads.

*Wingnuts are inherently more dangerous to operate than axle nuts or quick releases.  They are only as tight as you can make them with your hands.  They must be checked on a regular basis.  Not recommended for those without mechanical know-how.

Condition

New old stock.  Almost no shop wear.  A couple of these have slight oxidation (not rust) of the finish on the base, but most are very clean.
