This is a barely used Ground Control II tire matched to a NOS (but damaged) Ground Control Extreme tire.
These legendary WTB-designed tires made from the late 1980's to 1993 were way ahead of their time. The tread pattern is chunky and blocky with aggressive side knobs. These were the more aggressive version of the Ground Control S in folding bead. These were stock or desired upgrades on Klein Attitude, Stumpjumper Ultimate/Epic, some Fat Chance, and many other early 1990's bikes. Perhaps the ultimate tire for pro racer level retro mountain bike restorations? These are EXTREMELY rare, especially new.
Condition
The Ground Control 2 tire is in excellent or better lightly used condition. Its tread has ~90% life left, and its sidewalls are supple and not cracking but a bit dirty. This one is considered usable (keeping in mind it's still 30 year old rubber)
The Ground Control Extreme tire is new old stock, but has a hole in the sidewall at the decal. Its tread still has the white factory powder throughout. This tire is not usable but will be just fine for a display-only bike.
