NOS 1991 Cinelli SuperCorsa SLX: 57cm Frameset: Crimson Red + Chrome (Built and only test-ridden)

This lovely SC is a NOS frame that's been built with a mix of NOS and very lightly used parts, and would make a show stopping L'Eroica ride!. It's a unique and deep metallic color that is way more than just "red". It's crimson, almost maroon and very candied, and almost looks like it's anodized instead of painted. It's so shiny it was difficult to photograph. It's "Classic Bordeaux" deep crimson red paint blending with the Cinelli and Columbus decal's shades of red and gold, as well as that famous seat tube pinstripe! This one's frame number is 91/187, making it a 1991 (first two numbers are year in the Columbo era)

The Super Corsa has been Cinelli's top model since it's introduction in the 1950's (obviously excluding limited models like the Cinelli Laser).  It was originally named the Modello SC – which was later called Speciale Corsa then Super Corsa and finally the space was removed to Supercorsa in the 1980's.  The SC is pretty unique as a 1980's Italian road bike.  Most readily apparent is the seat cluster.  It features fastback seatstays with a binder bolt that goes through each stay, and it's lug is half chrome, half paint.  Then there's the wild spoiler bottom bracket, that was the first effective method to keep water out and just look plain fast.  The spoiler appeared in 1984.  If you want all the technical details of this frame's unique features, click here.

Condition

I purchased this from the first owner, who bought the frame new old stock in box from a shop, and only has a ride around the neighborhood for a test ride when it was first built.  The frame is very close to perfect with just a few imperfections worth noting: 1) driveside fork lower leg has a ~3mm touch up and tiny chip next to it 2) non-drive chainstay has two ~3mm touch up spots (done very well) 3) a few microscratches on chrome lugs.  Decals are pristine.  Driveside chainstay is perfect, no chain marks.
