Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

NOS/NIB.  This vintage brake cable set is the 2mm size that came on early retro mountain bikes from the 1980's.  The cable is thicker than modern cables (2mm vs 1.6mm), and one end is the larger oversized end that will only work with early mountain bike brake levers.  These cables are made to work with the included 6mm cable housing.  They will not  fit in most standard 5mm housing.

The cables themselves are braided stainless steel

These are great for early mountain bike levers that need this type of large end.

Motorcycle-style levers like early XT Deerhead M700, Suntour Power, and Tomaselli levers used this end.  Many levers came with concave "shims" that fit around the head of a modern cable end to fit the larger opening.  This style of cable is a better fit, and removes the risk of losing the shim (which are IMPOSSIBLE to find).

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
