Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

This very tough to source rear mech was made in England from the pre-war era in 1938 to 1949.  It is a smaller, lighter, more efficient than the more common Cyclo Standard rear derailleur.  It is designed for 3 speed drivetrains.  It features an integrated tension spring, which was an upgrade over the Standard.

The Oppy was named after famed Australian long distance cyclist Sir Hubert Opperman.  It's name includes "Solo" referring to this designed for single person bicycles and not tandems. It also was available in a 4 speed version that featured a different lower jockey wheel.  See attached catalog scans for instructions and setup details.

This one is complete with shifter, cables, and original and unique cable ferrules.

Condition

New old stock in original wax paper packaging! This is about as clean as they come.  The pulleys spin beyond buttery smooth.  The spring is smooth.  Zero rust anywhere.  Almost no cosmetic marks, just some old dirt in the deep corners.

Sell / Trade / Donate

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
