Description
This is a top of the line Ideale saddle, which has the Daniel Rebour treatment. This was a patented leather conditioning/softening process that was applied to a small amount of saddles, and is accompanied by the REBOUR stamp on the cover. These saddles are highly revered in the vintage market, and are sought after by collectors and riders alike.
Daniel Rebour's claim to fame is as an illustrator of bicycle components. He wrote/drew a book called "Rebour: The Illustrations of Daniel Rebour". But he was also an accomplished cyclist, and this saddle process is his biggest physical contribution to the industry.
Condition
Amazing lightly used condition! The leather is very supple, and not a bit dry or cracking. The surface looks great with only minor wear and marks here and there. The frame and rails look great. The logos on the side and top of the leather are not worn, and are very easy to read. It appears the leather has been conditioned well and kept out of the elements all it's life. There's not even any cracking around the rivets! There's just the slightest visible sit-bone indentions. This saddle has LOTS of life left in it, and will last another few decades with proper care.
