I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description
Description
This appears to be a 1988 or 1989 fork from Keith Bontrager. He produced the prototype of the first composite (aka 3 piece) rigid fork in 1987. This one has welded on brake bosses, where as later ones (1992?) have bands that clamp around the legs to hold bosses. It has the early Bontrager USA chainring logo (vs the later "B" over a leaf). Around 1990, Bontrager collaborated with Tange to produce the more common and similar Tange Switchblades fork.
This one has a short steer tube, and as is will fit small frames. The steerer is removeable and replaceable, so you could undo the 4 crown bolts and install your own crown. Or, use this as a museum piece on your mantle or display case!
Condition
Excellent used shape. There are a few sections of tiny pitting, and a few scratches. Really clean overall, good enough for anything except NOS condition show bikes.

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
