Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

Clean low mileage set of late 1990's wheelset, as evidenced by the hub's XB 1999 date code and the rim's ellipse shaped logo next to the SUP decal which ran 1996-1999.  Open Pro rims are the gold standard for traditionally styled, bombproof, somewhat lightweight road bike rims!

This wheelset was handbuilt by Wheelsmith, with DT Swiss spokes

Condition

Near mint lightly used condition, under 200 miles.  Very true horizontally, though both wheels have a 1mm hop (probably barely noticed while riding, or true them out).  Braking surface shows very minimal pad wear. Bearings smoother than butter with no play.  The rear wheel's oval decal is a little worn.  Freehub body feels excellent and has just the slightest cassette marks.  Hardly a scratch anywhere, though the rear skewer cam end and lever have a bit of scuffing.  Show bike worthy.

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
