Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

Absurdly clean untouched example of the early Gran Sport rear mech. This one is a more common mid 1950's or early 1960's model.  It features the toothless ball-bearing jockey wheels stock from those years, where the late 60's and early 70's versions had standard toothed pulleys.

In 1951, Campagnolo shook the cycling world with the first prototypes of this GS derailleur which was the foundation for most modern derailleurs before Suntour's slant parallelogram.  The first couple years of these were made in low numbers, and sell for crazy money (several thousand dollars!).  They were made of bronze, and plated with steel/chrome.

This one has the standard mounting bolt for basic derailleur hangers.

Condition

Near mint very lightly used shape.  Pulleys feel perfect, buttery, and smooth and show no wear.  Pivots and springs are tight and smooth.  Hardware is perfect.  Finish is damn close to perfect, the only marks being a slight steel plating wear spot on the left lower knuckle and a vertical scratch on the right side of the face plate.  Clean enough for most show bikes and riders.

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
