Description

Arius was a prolific saddle maker in Eibar, in the Basque region of Spain.  They are most known for their own saddles in the Unicanator style, and they built parts to be branded by Zeus, Soffati, Assos and Milremo.  This post is an exact match to the Zeus New Racer seatpost, only with the Arius logo.  The shaft is highly polished to a jewel like finish.

It is also a damn near exact clone of the 1st generation Super Record seatpost made from 1973-1978.  The shape and length of the flutes is even a match.  The only discrepancy is the taper where the shaft and clamp head meet.  It is unpolished, just like the Nuovo Record.  

I've never seen even a photo of another of these.  How many were made with the Arius logo remains unknown, but its safe to assume this is very rare. 

Condition

Very close to mint condition.  It appears it has seen very little use.  It is show bicycle worthy for all but the cleanest NOS bikes.  At certain angles that don't catch the microscratches, above the minimum insertion area appears pristine.  In more blunt angles you'll see the slightest of insertion marks on the back edge only extending on to the bottom the area between two flutes, and a couple minor imperfections inside the flutes.  The clamp ears and top cradles are close to mint with just a few marks.  Bolts are shiny, rust free, and only have some wrench flat wear.  Towards the bottom of the shaft, clear but light insertion marks extend about 2/3rds of the way to the flutes.
