Description
The French Vitus 979 is the model that made bonded aluminum frames popular. Lightweight anodized aluminum tubes are bonded to aluminum lugs, creating a visually striking and very light bike. These can be built in the 17 pound range fairly easily. The first 979 was made in 1979, and they ran until the early 1990's. Via a rough interpretation of the serial number (E141171) this may be a 1991 model.
Color
The main tubes are anodized a vibrant violet/purple. The sheen of the anodizing makes the color show up a bit odd in some of the pics with my main studio lighting. The main image and first four in the gallery show the color correctly, which were taken with a flash.
Frame size
The frame is a small/med 51cm (c-c). It will fit someone roughly 5 foot tall to 5ft 5. (the size 51 is stamped on the side of the head tube)
Condition:
The frame is straight and in great condition, The anodizing looks great with only a few minor marks. NO dents, cracks, bends, etc. Headset is smooth and in great cosmetic shape.
