Description
Description
These bars are from 1982 or 1983, and have a curious story to go with them. Nitto had been making bullmoose bars for Mountainbikes, and then Specialized ordered the Mountainbikes stamped bullmoose bars from Nitto, and also had Specialized stamped on them without permission. So Mountainbikes bought them all from Nitto. Read the story from the mouth of Charlie Kelly, who is Repack Rider in this forum. This said, they would be plenty cool on an early Specialized Stumpjumper!
Bullmoose handlebars were the invent of Tom Ritchey in 1980, and the name came from Charlie Kelly. Ritchey was unsatisfied with the strength and rigidity of the current stem offerings from the road and touring markets. The main complaint was the bar would spin in the stem clamp. So, he built one that was unable to spin and was super long for manhandling the bike. The result was this bar was used on the majority of early mountain bkes through about 1985.
Condition
Almost new old stock! Very little use. They could very well be take-offs. Only the usual microscratching and a few minor marks here and there. Absolutely show bike worthy.

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
