I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description
Description
There's not a ton of information on this stem, but it appears to be a late 1930's, 1940's, or 1950's stem made to fit a head clip headset. It is SUPER rare, and they rarely pop up on Ebay or even in photos. They seem to be popular with randonneur bikes such as Rene Herse, Alex Singer, or Hetchins.
The stem is a girder or I-beam design, and has a twin bolt clamp. It has all it's original hardware i beautiful condition. The top bolt is only about 2" long, and screws into threads built into the stem. It seemingly has no purpose aside from asthetics.
The clamp size is a bit unknown. It came to me with a shim in it. Without the shim, it seems to be just very slightly bigger than 25.4mm, as a 25.4mm bar spins under pressure. It's possible it's a 27mm clamp that was popular in that era, and the shim is for 25.4mm bars. If this is the case, you would have to spread the clamp a bit to make it fit.
Condition
Excellent to near mint shape, exceptional for it's age! The polish is quite shiny with nothing more than micro-scratches. The clamp bolts are near perfect. The top bolt has a bit of chrome wear, but not too bad. Perfect for your show bike!

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
