Description

Super nice under saddle bag for carrying tools and snacks, circa 1940's, 1950's? It's French, the leather is stamped "Modele Depose LG). I've been unable to determine origins and history, but this is a very high quality piece made from high grade leather.  The bag's leather is a deep red / brown color, almost clay like.  Dark brown straps & metal buckles. Very nicely stitched.

Tool bags are essentially small saddlebags that hang from your saddle's bag loops. This is the vintage style the current Brooks Challenge is modeled after. Great for show bikes, L'Eroica rides, or just staying period correct on your classic road/touring bicycle. The age and style of this bag makes it fitting for early Constructeur bikes from the likes of Jo Routens, Rene Herse, Alex Singer, Caminade, Terrot...

Condition

Wonderful shape, especially for being at least 70 years old! The leather is soft and supple without any noticeable dryness or deterioration. Strap leather is super soft too! Metal buckles are darkened with age but not corroded. Show bike worthy, display worthy, or ride it for miles and miles without worry!
