Description

Absolutely gorgeous half carbon, half steel Italian made frame, by Pinarello.  The Opera was made in an era when brands were switching to aluminum for their top end bikes.  Even Pinarello had their aluminum Prince.  The Opera was a valiant effort to show that steel was still real.  And it was!  This frame rides beautifully, and will last decades longer than all the aluminum and full carbon bikes out there.  Deda "Pegaso" superlight steel, blended beautifully with a sultry blue-tinted carbon fiber made for a unique and pretty bike!  Ride quality is superbe, and retains all the "springy", comfortable feel of steel with the stiffness and vibration dampening of carbon.  This frame/fork retailed for $2500.

Much time and love was put into the design of this bike.  The carbon has a deep blue tint.  This gives the effect of being transparent and bottomless (picture the grid image from the movie "The Matrix")!  Never seen anything else like it.  Delicate engravings of the Pinarello name and logo adorn the dropouts, bottom bracket shell, & front derailleur braze plate.

This is a pre-2003 model.  This frame was built with Campagnolo Record 10 speed, which was released in 2000.  The paint scheme doesn't seem to match a pic of a 2000 model, so best guess is 2001 or 2002 model.

Included in the sale is the 59cm frame, Aria carbon fork, original 1" Chris King headset, original Deda Magic bars & stem.

Great, lightly used condition.  Just a few minor chips and scratches.  Passes for new from 5 feet!  Paint is glossy and unfaded, with minimal blemishes.  Frame/fork are straight and free from dents, rust, cracks, & bends.  Carbon is nearly perfect.  Drive-side chainstay in great sharp, with almost zero chain wear or tire rub. No cable rub marks on head tube.  Decals look great, with only a couple chips. inner/upper portions of fork are in great shape, which is an indication of low mileage.  Areas of note: the left inner chainstay has a bit of tire rub.  Steel part of seat stays has what's best described as rough paint, just a bit textured, minor.   Small 2mm chip on right side of top tube, near seat tube joint.

Frame measurements:  Note on sizing: This bike feels slightly larger than most 59cm frames.  If you prefer to ride a 56cm, this will likely be too big for you.

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
