Description

Unique and gorgeous Palosanto frame from the Italian master Dario Pegoretti with its original 1" steel lugged sloping crown fork.  It recently was given S&S couplers to make it a travel bike by Mike DeSalvo, who sent it out for a sleek custom paintjob.  This is the Peg for those who prefer their bikes more "classic" in appearance than the usual Peg frame—it's a tasty single color army/olive green with "Pegoretti" in a loopy script vs the usual block-lettered Pegoretti logo.  Also, the trademark tig welds have been smoothed out by the paint giving it almost the appearance of a fillet brazed frame—you can still see the welds when you look closely, but barely.  It comes with an original S&S travel suitcase, frame padding/spacers, coupler tools, and cable splitters.  It does have the original owner's name on the top tube—who I bought it from—keeping the frame's history alive.

The Palo Santo was introduced in the 1990's) as Peg's "whippy lightweight" model, vs the stiffer and more oversized Marcelo and Duende.  The Palo Santo has slightly oversized tubing, vs the quite oversized Marcelo and Duende.  From the 1999 catalog (translated from Italian): "PALOSANTO, a precious wood known by us as rosewood, is the basis of flamenco. It constitutes one of the essential essences in the construction of guitars. We could not have baptized this model differently, since with him we have inaugurated our experience as designers. PALOSANTO, in fact, marks the beginning of the collaboration with Dedacciai: the reflection on design gave rise in 1993 to a steel pipeline designed specifically for TIG welding. The contained diameters should satisfy the eye of the purists, that is, of those who recognize themselves in an "oversized", not excessively "oversized". Thus, the main triangle of this model has a diagonal tube of 31.7 mm, a horizontal 28.6 mm and a vertical 30 mm; as for the rear undercarriage, the characteristics are similar to those of the DUENDE model. The frameset includes PEGORETTI fork with microfused head and 26 mm diameter sheaths"

Condition

The frame has been built up since the new paint, but not ridden.  As such, it is extremely close to perfect in condition. There are the slightest installation marks from axles, brakes, derailleurs, etc.  There's also a ~3mm chip on the lower end of head tube, and a few TINY imperfections not even worth mentioning.  Otherwise there's not much to mention, it looks like a brand new bike.  Frame is straight as it would have been checked on a jig at DeSalvo's shop.  Zero dents, dings, cracks, bends, etc.

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
