Part of Shimano's AX Aerodynamic series, this is a pretty unique piece. It holds the distinction of being one of very few Shimano derailleurs, that have internal indexing, and cannot be run in pure friction mode. It is designed to be used with friction shifters, and the derailleur will index either 5, 6, or 7 speed freewheels. It is a radical jump in style and function. It was made in fairly low numbers from 1981 to 1984.
Condition
New old stock, never installed. The finish has some micro blemishes from shop wear, but it looks great.
