Description

 

32.6mm flange diameter for BMX frames! Edco of Switzerland is known for making high precision bicycle components since 1902, like most Swiss things (Watches, knives, cheese?).  This headset is completely made of alloy, and weighs a scant 108 grams.  The bearing retainers are a unique design that allows the bearings to be removed for cleaning without bending the retainer parts.  This is a first generation version, in the style of the Super Record 4041 or Suntour Superbe Pro!  The first gen ran from ~late 1970's to mid 1980's, before it was replaced with an aero styled one closer to C-Record.

Aside from being a high end upgrade for classic road bikes, the early EDCO was loved by old school vintage bmx riders too!

Condition

This one appears to be never installed NOS, but has a bit of shop wear from being stored without it's box.  A few little marks in the ano here and there, but I don't see any sign the flanges were installed or tool marks.  Let's call it near mint or better, show bike worthy for all but the very cleanest NOS bicycles.
