Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

Rare headset from the 1st gen Shimano 105 group circa 1987-1989. This model features polished top nut & cup flats with a brilliant glittery metallic black/grey finish to the cups.  This HP-1050 was replaced in 1990 with the 105-SC HP-1055, which has a plastic-appearing light grey cup finish and painted silver top nut.

The 1st gen 105 headset is astonishingly rare for a 1980's Shimano part.  In my opinion it is the most attractive of the painted headsets!

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
