The Vars is a premium version of the more common Mente. This one is an odd pre-production model. The only difference between the regular Vars saddle is this one has torx screws instead of rivets. This allows easy removal/replacement of the leather top, should you damage it or the rivets. Plus, they look killer!
The Vars is 180mm wide at it's widest point. This is just a bit wider than the B17 Standard's 175mm width. This is a great option for riders who prefer a more upright position, like tourists or commuters. The saddle top is made of thick, natural vegetable tanned leather that has been pre-softened and waterproofed. The rivets on the back are actually off the rear of the saddle, not on top of the saddle like Brooks. This means you don't sit on the rivets, and have no worries of them irritating your rear end. Polished stainless spring steel is used for the rails. These have long parallel sections to give ample room for adjustment.
