Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

This is a genuine early to mid 1980's MountainBikes Gary Fisher bullmoose bar that uses a "stud" that fits in a standard 1" fork with bars that clamp around it. It's essentially the precursor to the threadless stem (though don't let anyone convince you these California mtb'ers were the first to come up with this idea...That's the French in the 1930's). Tom Ritchey invented the bullmoose bars in 1979/1980. This tig-welded clamp on bar was stock on early Fisher / Mountain Bikes models such as Mt. Tam, Montaire, Competition, Pro Calibur, etc. They came in both alloy and steel, this being the alloy version that came on the high end models.

Tom made a fillet brazed version with a double expander stud (and thus no clamp) for the high level bikes branded with his own name (Annapurna, Competition, Everest, Team/Super Comp, etc). Eventually this design was outsourced to Nitto and it became a standard 1"quill without the stud/clamp.

Condition

Excellent used shape. Original paint with only a handful of scattered chips. Worthy of show bikes with a touch of patina

Sell / Trade / Donate

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
