Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

This is a rare wheelset for your classic road bicycle! These were handbuilt by Bruce Gordon himself, as part of a no-expense-spared build with this 1982 light touring frame.  First generation Phil Wood 3-piece hubs laced up to Rigida Red Label Al 1320 rims with DT Swiss 14g stainless spokes.

Condition

These are just barely ridden, by a rather lightweight woman on a 48cm frame.  The braking surface has only a hint of visible wear, the rims are arrow true (I couldn't even dream of putting a spoke wrench to these, they are so straight), and the bearings are buttery perfect.  Both wheels spin forever.  The front bearings feel as new, the rear feels as new spinning by hand, but once the wheel is spinning you can feel vibrations.  Hubs are nearly pristine cosmetically, with no wear to note.  Skewers are perfect except for some very light scratches in the cam ends.  Rims cosmetically are near mint, with just some wear to the decals.  The mounted tires look new or very very close to new; The center moulding line of the tread is still there on both tires, sidewalls are just barely dry. No cracking anywhere.   Overall, these wheels, skewers, and tires are clean enough for the best of show bikes!

Sell / Trade / Donate

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
