Item Condition

I grade products as honestly as possible and depict blemishes in both description and photos—please study them carefully. I tend to be overcritical and customers report items to be in better shape than expected often. From best condition to worst condition, my grading scale is as follows. Mint / near mint+ / near mint / excellent+ / excellent / great / very good / average / fair.

Description

First year of the Mojo Ti! The titanium version of the Mojo was introduced in 1994 as the ultimate hardtail mtb. It was a collaboration between Gary Helfrich of Fat Chance / Merlin Metal Works fame and Ancotec titanium mill. It was made in Ibis's Sebastpol workshop.  It retained most features of the steel Mojo, including the geometry, KGB dropouts, Moron tubing (more on the ends internally butted tubes) and the legendary handjob rear cable stop.  The Mojo ti was only made in cantilever form with the requisite Hand Job for three years—1994, 1995, and 1996.  In 1997, it went to V-brakes and the hand went away.  There was a remake of the Mojo ti in the mid 2000's somewhere, built by Lightspeed/Lynskey with disc brake tabs and ovalized tubing. The early Mojo Ti is RARE beast, rarely seen in person or in photos! See attached catalog and geometry sheet for more info!

This particular frame was acquired in an estate auction of a collector in Chicago, fully built with exotic parts that are now for sale on my site. All the bikes in his collection were said to be never ridden or just test ridden once or twice.  The condition matches that description pretty well.  Of course, I cannot guarantee the accuracy of this statement.

The frame came to me with a 1996 Rockshox Judy SL Ti fork upgraded to Englund Total Air cartridges. If you're going for performance and period correct rather than building to exact years its a great choice

Condition

Essentially unridden aside from a test ride or two! It's not in perfect NOS shape but it is VERY nice. It has a handful of imperfections consistent with display/storage/transport wear rather than from riding.  Being a brushed titanium finish, it's relatively easy to remove and refinish any of these marks.  Original decals are very close to pristine, exception being a bit of wear on the tubing decal.  Imperfections worth noting include 1) tiny bit of chain drop marks on chainstay 2) weird section of rubbing/scratching wear bottom side of top tube at head tube joint 3) light black marks non-driveside (ND) downtube below bottle cage bolts 4) black rub marks bottom of downtube, unknown cause.  There is a smattering of insubstantial microscratching and tiny marks not listed. Study the photos carefully, they depict the condition accurately.

I'm always buying high end bikes, parts, accessories, memorabilia, etc. While I'm particularly seeking large piles of new old stock parts, used items in nice condition are welcome.
