Description

In 1992 or 1993, Phil Wood made an experimental batch of several hundred bottom brackets with carbon shells.  They quickly decided they were just too hard to manufacture, and never made another.  They were just as good as the standard Phil bb's, but cost oodles more.  (info directly from a Phil Wood sales rep).  Just how many of these are still around is unknown, but a Google search turns up zero signs that these were ever made!

The bb is designed just like other Phil bb's, just with a carbon shell.  It has both titanium spindle and cups.

Condition:

MINT lightly used shape!  Bearings are unbelieveably smooth with zero play.  Cups and threads in great shape.  The "Phil" logo on the shell looks great.  Very light marks on the tapers from installation/removal of crank.

Details:

  • Spindle: 119mm
  • Shell: 68mm
  • Threads: English
  • Taper: JIS square taper
  • Year: 1992 or 1993
