R&R was among the first true American BMX bike builders, known for their line of racing bikes such as the Scorcher, Screamer, CM-I, CM-II, Lightweight, Centurion, CR-1... They built from 1974 to about 1979 in relatively low numbers. This one wears its original bronze cad-plated finish largely intact, with a lovely patina, and original decals are complete! These are rare, and in this excellent survivor state, near unobtanium! It just needs a chain and grips to be a complete build! Frame number is 28428

The Screamer model features a beefy twin top tube design, which flow seamlessly into the integrated loop stays. At the head tube, the top tubes connect into a sturdy block welded around the head tube. Chromoly tubing throughout.

Component highlights include Three Arrows chainwheel, original headset & Ashtabula fork, Viscount quilted saddle, black Shimano MX hubs (rear coaster).

This gem is part of a collection I acquired from someone who's father died recently. Most amazing is the condition of the original decals, they're so little actual wear on them! Glorious CAD plated finish is mostly intact with chrome beneath showing through. It is free of dents, and the only rust to speak of is a touch on the flat plate where the seat tube meets the twin top tubes. Hubs, BB, headset spin nicely. Wheels relatively true. Somehow, the little no warranty sticker on the bottom of the BB shell is still there! This is one worthy of taking to bike shows to get the attention!

Details

Frame number: 28428

Wheelset: Femco/Kinlin steel rims, Shimano MX hubs in black, coaster brake

Saddle: Viscount quilted, black

Fork: Ashtabula

Crank: Ashtabula w/ 3 Arrows 44t chainwheel

Tires: NOS Duro (some cracking)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0785/5144/9740/files/mongoose_motomag_old_school_1970s_survivor_16449__79673.1668816137.1280.1280_fba7ffdd-d052-4e40-8ab9-e8f4967ad721.jpg?v=1792368783
https://swooncycles.com/products/1977-r-r-screamer-factory-racer-survivor-unrestored-clean-bronze-cad-plating-3-arrow-shimano-mx-femco-kimlin
